All of our learn to row classes are open to people with little or no rowing experience. Our small class sizes allow the coaches to focus on the needs of each individual rower. 

Lake Washington offers Learn to Row in the spring, summer, and fall. 


Learn to Row Sculling

Due to COVID restrictions, Lake Washington Rowing Club offered a limited number of Learn to Row Classes in 2021. There will be no additional Learn to Row Classes in 2021.

If you want to be informed about classes in 2022, please add your name to our email list. Due to the high volume of requests for Learn to Row, we are not able to respond to individual emails or voice mails concerning Learn to Row. We will send email to our email list when we schedule more classes.


Learn to Row Sculling is a 3-week, 6 session class. Participants will learn the basics of rowing in individuals boats. Program is limited to 4-6 people. Students must attend all classes to progress. We also offer an Advanced Learn to Row Sculling program that is also a 3-week, 6 session class. The advanced program is for individuals with some rowing experience who want to learn to row a single. 

Private Lessons

Sign up for a private lesson. Private lessons for non-members are sold in packages of 3 lessons. Please contact the LWRC office for availability before signing up. Private lessons are in high demand and we may not be able to schedule you immediately. Please include your rowing experience (if any), swimming ability and athletic background. You must be fully vaccinated to take private lessons.


Once you have the okay from the office, select the Private Coaching button and purchase a private lesson package. A coach will contact you to set up a time for your lesson.

Learn to Row - Race Camp

Due to COVID-19 Summer Race Camp will not be held in 2021. If you would like to be notified when we begin Learn to Row Race Camp in 2022, please create a profile in our MindBody App and indicate Learn to Row for your area of interest. 


This program is an 8-week training regimen with an opportunity to race in August. Program is open to those who have never rowed before, interested in learning to sweep row, and race in 8-person boats. Program is 3 times a week and is limited to 18 participants. This is a great chance for those that have previously taken a LTR Sculling class and have always wanted to have the chance to race in sweep boats. Grab a group of friends and race at a local regatta!
